By Dec. 1, Cooper Street 20/20 will open at 800 S. Cooper St. in a space previously occupied by Muddy’s Bake Shop. Though the new location will not feature dining space, Katz is OK with that.
“I’ve been selling goods at the Memphis Farmers Market for about six years and it’s very lucrative for me,” she says. “This gave me the opportunity to see if I can do something new at 53 years old and still be a cook.”
Located near Central Avenue, the Cooper Street location affords Katz higher visibility and about 1,250 square feet of kitchen space. The kitchen at Southern College of Optometry was about 600 square feet.
“I’m very excited about helping with the corner and the neighborhood and bringing as much healthy, fresh and local food as I can,” she says.
Katz will focus her efforts on producing a variety of prepared foods, including soups, dips and dinners. Customers can order items in person at the new location or on the web at www.cooperstreet2020.com.
